However, he wasn't content with the life and ran away with his siblings. They wandered the streets in their youth, raising hell wherever they went. But soon they went their separate ways. He went to an unknown clan, where he quickly rose to become medicine cat thanks to his smarts and genuine interest in herbs. But in reality, he wasn't led there because he wanted to heal. More a scientist and less a doctor, he wanted to experiment, discover just how far a cat could go. He routinely caused trouble until one day he poisoned his entire clan's food supply. When they woke up from their haze, the one named Cardinalflight was gone. He roamed the land for several moons, making gardens and homes, friends and enemies, clients and graves. Until one day, he was found by Sigmund experimenting on a cat that, unknown to him, was a direct descendant of Pampa, a once Shaman of Primal Instinct. Unable to resuscitate them, Sigmund dragged him back to the League. Mother E'tani, who knows Funk since he maintains the greenhouse, essentially punishes him by making him Shaman. He no like his job, but whatever. As time goes on, he falls into a groove, cleaning the greenhouse and being pestered by Eshek, but he still yearns to leave. Just when it seemed he'd get his freedom, it was taken away with Mother the day she vanished. The League turned to Sigmund and Lilith, who quickly disappeared too and soon he was the only higher staff left. Normally, a Proxy would be nominated for leader, but for who knows why, he was now Nemesis. While things went smoothly, Funk found himself falling for his pesterer Eshek, despite continually trying to kill it since he figures he has no chance. But the things we can't have, we always want more. As it turned out, Eshek surprisingly reciprocated his feelings, and she was with kits before long. It seemed Funk, despite everything, had a chance at having a Normal Life. Of course, fate had other plans. Shortly before she is due, Eshek is found hanging from a rope from the ceiling of the Estate, dead along with her unborn kits. His first time dealing with such grief, Funk was left in well, a funk. He would spend nights walking through the halls, not really going anywhere or doing anything. He attempted to work it out with flings, but they were only bandages to a stab wound. Or Gardening and medicating others, but his work became sloppy as he routinely zoned out. Finally, he found himself down in the crypt with Senescence and Innocentia. The demon gives him a deal; "For all the knowledge you chase after, all the power you fight for, and all the success you'd die for, offer up three things. A new plaything for us, a memory of the past and two of your lives. You have until you step outside the estate's line. Choose wisely." At first, it seems obviously not worth it. Shortly after, he is met by Octavia, once Heda of Absum Lux. After AL was ravaged by rogues and left to die by Peach, an old acquaintance of Funk's, one of the survivors urged her to help. She comes to PI, offering their land in exchange for PI taking in the remnants. While they could easily not, Funk agrees. After one final hurrah at the Estate, Funk and the rest of the league leave. Though during the celebration, he consumates a relationship with Foxstar, resulting in their litter. While Funk doesn't take the deal then, he still sometimes feels a presence pressing on the back of his mind. The remnants of Absum Lux weren't so taken with their new neighbors though, and eventually formed a coup. While Primal Instinct could take them, a fight became unnecessary as Foxstar came and showed them a vision of the Sun God eating Wanheda. While his skies were now the Sun God's, Funk has shown little interest in following him. Yet some of AL beg him to protect them from the Sun God. And he can only try. As the moons stretch on and he meets more people and has more flings, Funk finds himself growing attached to this little group he leads. But one gathering, the moon disappeared and a voice spoke from the heavens of the clans needing to come together to stop a flood. At first, Funk believed it to be aliens. As you do. Whispers of rebellion floated in the League, but he did little to stop them. When the time came for all the clans to come together to stop the flood, he was led off track by Kotori. Who told him that Glowstar's brother Sean was the main reason for her breakdown during the gathering. His suppressed emotions for her came flooding through and he invited Sean away from the group to interrogate and fight him. It was more talking though as Funk somehow managed to work through his feelings and admit he loves Glow to Sean. Of course, Glow overhears and comes and says she loves Funk too and the clans are saved and we're all happy. Till one day Funk manages to go to Dayclan to visit Glow, where he is then killed by Shule. Sean's mate, for hurting Sean the other day. This is the first life lost.
