Bio: Right off the bat, something didn't feel right. A sort of uneasiness that haunts Surfchaser every waking moment of his life. Maybe some part of his subconscious was aware of the rich and twisted blood flowing in his veins. One of the Foxbane kits brought to Dayclan, he was always a bit too skeptical. A bit too untrusting to really consider Funk E'tan his father. Compared to the Nemesis, his pelt broke into sharp choppy waves of black on a stormy grey base. White like seafoam licks along the top of his legs and his belly, only to twist back into the waves of his long fur. Deep green eyes are adjourned in his skull, turbulent like the seas he was named after. It's not supposedly complete, as he was born without his back right leg. Not that Surfcatcher has ever let it slow him down or let people look down on him for it. Surfcatcher tends to paw the line between reasonably cynic and just downright depressed. His words are sharper than his claws, and that's the way he likes it. More of a lone wolf, his angry temperament and blatant disregard for the rules quickly chase off anyone wanting to get close to him. Even as he tries to keep it under control, he rarely apologizes for his actions. Though really cause he doesn't know how to. Raised by the Chaotic 3, he's no stranger to how to get people to do what he wants, and wastes no sympathy on others. As the waves crash against the short again and again, there holds certainty that Surfchaser will chip away against the shore till he gets the answers he wants.

Hi!

You can call me Berry. I'm from the US and I'm currently in college to become an accounting clerk while working 2 jobs. I have 2 cats, Ginger and Cider, who I will always share pictures of if asked. I've read some of the warrior cats books but I'm very behind. If I'm going to start again, I'll wanna start from the beginning. Besides rping, I play video games, crochet, watch very long videos on YT and hang out with my girlfriend. I've been really into Stardew Valley since the 1.6 update dropped and finally working through collecting all the chests I missed in Fontaine. I'm doing my best to max out on my free will pills and enjoy life without worrying about what other people think. You can use either She/Her or They/Them pronouns to address me, I'm not overly picky. ❥ Appearance: Mostly white with an odd mix of brown and grey splotches and highlights. She could be considered a calico, I guess. Her fur is mid length but stringy and frizzy. She has dull blue eyes and if cats had eye bags, she'd have them.
❥ Health: 80/100. While she is fine physically, her mental health is in shambles thanks to the stress of leadership and her lying. She does get the odd shake every now and again so it is leaking into her physical health.

❥ Personality: Dustmask is a bombastic and grandiose cat. Flamboyant and imprudent, she often speaks in a manner that is peppered with bravado and drama. Most of it is fluff, a distraction from saying anything at all. Her charismatic parlance, lively wit, and elegant bearing — all bear witness to her godly charms. Even the times she has to speak more plainly are doctored. She enjoys the spotlight on her, but only when things are going her way. When confronted, she will do her best to redirect attention and save face. Dustmask is as inscrutable as the most cunning of stage characters, her course of action defying all prediction.

For as much as Dustmask tries to keep things on the positive, she'll push the negative just as hard. She can also be drab, with a sharp tongue and a pessimistic attitude. Not afraid to use her influence and power to change the narrative for her betterment. She believes this to be for the good of everyone, even though it is mostly self serving. Becoming leader has given her an ego boost, but not enough to hide the dullness in her eyes.

Under the mask, she's a stressed mess. She doesn't have the first clue about leading the clan, bumbling her way through the politics of leading a clan. She is overly meticulous, having plan after plan in case the first blows up in her face. Her mind constantly races with doubts and self hatred. She takes most of her anger out on Starclan, harboring a secret hatred for her ancestors. She blames them for putting her in this position. Her internal monologues are filled with shock and confusion, the kind she never wants to show. People are overly confusing to her. She feels she is unable to step down thanks to the tumultuous state of Thunderclan and the supposed prophecy of her becoming leader.

Her saving grace is Nettlekit. Nettlekit never leaves the leader's den, and no one else seems to notice their presence. But Nettlekit continually gives Duststar the advice and guidance she needs to run the clan.

"We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about who we pretend to be." Kurt Vonnegut. The world's a stage, and we are only actors, but who is the play for? For the audience who exist just to watch fate unfold? For your fellow actors who never remember their lines, throwing your heart into a bedlam? For the directors that watch it all from above, meticulously planning every move? Duststar is an actress that thrives in improv, never caring for the director’s guiding hand. That fake sweet feeling, like aspartame. She hated it. She hated Starclan. And who could say Starclan didn’t hate her too? Look at where they have led her? Brought her? It’s a well guarded secret that Duststar was never meant to be a leader. She was happy as a warrior, approaching the first anniversary of her warrior-hood when the stage went ablaze. When Redstar died. When Hazelshine desperately threw water on the burning props. It was a sham, a hoax. The calls of praise from her cast mates as they patted her on her well toned back, claws catching in her stringy white and creamy fur. The trek up to the Moonstone with the very Medicine Cat that doomed her, only able to look at them with dead blue eyes. It only felt real when the directors were in front of her; Starclan; as they perhaps took joy in giving her each life that tore another hole in her chest, her brindled head pounding like a thousand migraines. When she woke up, still feeling the pain reverberating through her bones and muscles, did it finally feel real. She was center stage, and she needed to put on a good show. The story of a local girl, born and raised in Thunderclan, showing nothing but pure devotion to her clan, getting chosen to lead them on the golden path that Redstar had rolled out. It’d be great for reviews. But Dustmask is a bad actress, not that she’d let anyone else know. She’d cover up her true feelings, the reality behind the curtain, with grandiose facades and eloquent wordplay. She’d work harder, smarter, than anyone in the clan. Every actor’s mark clear on the stage, aware of how every mechanism worked, the script memorized backwards and forwards. No one would know, she’d keep this veneer of capability as shiny as possible. Duststar knows the truth, and so did Starclan, surely laughing at her attempts from their premium seats. They both know it’s just a mask, to hide behind. This is a mask Duststar is incredibly familiar with. She has worn it for so long. Was there anything under it? Did she even know? She can’t care now. She can only don the mask for another day, draw everyone’s attention to it. For who cares for the actress, only for the character they pretend to be.

In that space between life and death, few have been pulled out to tell the tale. Underwatermoon was one of the lucky few. How she ended up in the river was anyone’s guess. Perhaps she was the runt of some loners and was left to drown? Or she was playing with her siblings and a tragic accident happened? She has no idea. But in that cold river, she found the abyss. Dark and enchanting, she was so close to touching it. Feeling… something. And then the jaws of life dragged her out. She had been saved by a Riverclan warrior, Whitesand, while hunting. Brought back to life, seeing the sun again, and suddenly being taken into Riverclan’s care, Underwatermoon couldn’t help but crave for that darkness again. It was her first memory of this world, and the next one too. She doesn’t fear death, she embraces it. Underwatermoon is always the first to jump after a sinking fish, to cross on a breaking bridge, to leap into the enemy’s claws. Anything to find that peace again. Her heart constantly stirs, her eyes bounce around to everything, and she can rarely stop talking. All of which usually gets her in trouble, not that she really seems to mind. Her lax view on the rules lets her bend them in some places, completely breaking them in others. She’s a great listener though, always catching whispers of the latest news and gossip. There’s most likely few in the forest as up to date on things as her. She is also fascinated by rogues, always wanting to ask them questions and getting far too close to their fangs and claws. Not that she minds. In fact, the thought of it thrills her. The idea of being killed in such a gruesome manner sounds beautiful to her. Morbid with a dark sense of humor, you’ll routinely see her just staring at her prey, letting their blood ooze over her paws. But when a killer looks into her eyes, do they see a scared victim? Or the abyss, staring right back at them?
